Every event has its moment visible to the participants – the day of the conference, expert presentations, joint discussions. However, before the doors of the hall open, organizational, substantive, and logistical work lasts for many weeks. This is also the case with our international information and promotional conference dedicated to direct sales of carp.
On September 17-19, representatives of the Polish aquaculture community, youth from fishing schools, and industry experts will meet with partners from the Czech Republic. The purpose of the conference will be to exchange experiences regarding the organization of direct sales and the functioning of the carp market in both countries. Poland and the Czech Republic are among the leaders of carp economy in the European Union, thus discussing the future of the sector in an international dimension is a natural step in the development of the project.
In preparing the conference, we focus not only on the lecture part but also on the practical dimension of the meeting. The program includes visits to aquaculture facilities, meetings with students and teachers from fishing schools, and presentations by experts who will present the differences and similarities in the functioning of the carp market in Poland and the Czech Republic. We want this event to be not just a series of lectures but a real space for discussion about the challenges and opportunities that direct sales in a short supply chain offer.
The international nature of the conference is particularly significant for youth studying in professions related to aquaculture. They will be the ones who will co-create the future of the sector in the coming years. Joint discussions, learning about other models of market organization, and looking at direct sales from a broader perspective allow building awareness that aquaculture is not only production but also marketing, trade organization, and consumer relations.
The conference in the Czech Republic will be one of the first international stages of the implementation of the project "Direct sales of domestic aquaculture products – a new opening." We see it as an important step in building a network of cooperation and strengthening the position of direct sales as a stable model for the functioning of fish farms.
We still have some final organizational arrangements ahead of us. Soon we will share the details of the program and the coverage of the event.
